The Norway Mountain Ski Patrol is a member of the National Ski Patrol and consists of volunteers. The National Ski Patrol System consists of approximately 28,000 volunteer and professional members. All members are required to meet basic training requirements and complete annual training, including Outdoor Emergency Care, Professional-Rescuer CPR and demonstrate either skiing or snowboarding proficiency with toboggans. Membership is open to females or males 15 years or older. You must complete the Outdoor Emergency Care course of 80 to 100 hours or you may challenge the course if you have the following Qualifications: current license in medicine (MD DO or Nursing) or current certification as EMT or Paramedic.
The fees are: NSP Registration Fee $15.00; OEC Manual $49.50; OEC study Guide $25.00; and ski patrol manual $12.00 for a total of $101.50. Annual dues are $65.00 and you will be required to purchase a jacket or shell which will range from approximately $75.00 to $300.00 and a fanny-pack for approximately $35.00.
